The world-renowned opera “The Flying Dutchman” will be staged in Singapore!

Aug 23, 2016 | German Embassy Singapore

“The Flying Dutchman”, the romantic opera by German composer Richard Wagner (1813 – 1883), evolves around the legend of a so-called ghost ship. When Wagner was a young man, almost all trade and travel by sea was done in sailing ships. The sailor’s tales at that time narrated of the often dangerous endeavors and frequently referred to strange creatures emerging from the sea, to islands that, once sighted, could not be found again, and, of course, to ghost ships...  The opera will be staged for the first time ever in Singapore at the Victoria Theatre from 23-30 October 2016!
