Euro-Scheine

Obligation to declare cash in amounts of EUR 10,000 or more entering or leaving the EU

All travellers entering or leaving the European Union with €10,000 or more in cash must declare the sum to Customs from 15 June 2007. This initiative has been taken to assist the efforts being made at EU level to tackle crime and improve security by cracking down on money laundering, terrorism and criminality.

Importing pets from abroad

When importing an animal into Germany there are many regulations to be observed. For detailed information please refer to the website of the German Federal Ministry of Food, Agricultur and Consumer Protection.

Plants, animals and other exotic souvenirs/gifts

Please be aware that a lot of souvenirs/gifts in Southeast-Asia are made of plants, animals or other exotic materials. The import of such souvenirs/gifts might be forbidden or might require an authorization. Please check with the following insitutions:
