Application for a long-term visa (residence permit)
Singaporean citizens and other foreign citizens residing in Singapore seeking gainful employment, plan to do an internship, intend to study or would like to reside with their German spouse in Germany have to obtain a long-term visa (residence permit) cum work permit (in the case of employment). Applications for the permits must be submitted through the German Embassy in Singapore. The visa fee is SGD 130 (payable in cash).
The residence permit can be issued only upon approval by the responsible authorities in Germany. This procedure can take up to 2 months. You will be notified as soon as the approval is granted. For collection of your visa please come personally with your passport!
Long-term visa for employment
Applicants have to submit in person the following documents (original and 2 copies):
- 2 application forms
- valid passport (validity at least 6 months)
- 2 passport photographs (see sample photo for visa application)
- employment contract from the German company (if you are send to Germany by a company based in Singapore, you would also need to submit a letter by your local employer stating your employment status)
- curriculum vitae and degree certificate
The visa fee is SGD 130 (payable in cash; please bring exact amount).
