Holiday health insurance
We hope your stay in Germany will be most enjoyable and exciting. However, there is always a risk that illness could strike while you are on holiday. Should this happen, doctor's bills and hospital costs can soon mount up. If you do not have any health insurance, you will be liable to pay all these costs yourself.
We, therefore, strongly advise you to take up a health insurance policy for the duration of your holiday, even if you are insured abroad under your statutory health insurance system. Your statutory insurer will be able to provide informatíon on the cover they provide in Germany. Certain expenses will not, however, be covered. Prime amongst these are repatriation costs. An additional holiday health insurance is thus recommended to fill such gaps.
Nationals who require a visa must have a holiday health insurance policy for their period of stay in Germany respectively in the Schengen states when applying for a visa.
The German Embassy accepts all health insurance policies with a minumum coverage of at least 30,000 Euro.
